Getting Your License
Ages 16 to 17 Road Test Qualifications:
​Must have a valid permit for a minimum of 6 months

Must have completed 24 hours of classroom either online or in-person

Must have completed 14 hours of behind the wheel in-car-completion

Must have logged a minimum of 30 hours of practice driving

Must have a DE-964 (Driving School) or PTDE-964 (Parent Taught) certificate

Must watch a two-hour video: Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) within 90 days of the driving test date. After watching the ITTD, you need to print a certificate of completion and submit the certificate to our driving school.
Ages 18 to Adult Road Test Qualifications:
​Must have a valid permit

Ages 18-24 must have completed an adult 6 hour online or in-person class and have an ADE-1317 (Adult Driver Education Course) completion certificate.

Ages 24 or older must either complete an adult 6 hour online or in-person class or take the written test at a DPS office

Watch a 1-hour video: Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) within 90 days of the driving test date. After watching the ITTD, you need to print a certificate of completion and submit the certificate to our driving school.
After completion of the road test, you have two choices. First, we are able to scan and submit your documents on your behalf and you may print your license at home. Please make sure you are eligible. Second, be given a sealed envelope to take the DPS to get your driver's license. If you open this envelope before your appointment, you will need to return to us to reseal it.
TEENS (AGES 14-17)
ADULTS (18 & UP)
Getting Your Permit
A teen may begin a teen drivers ed course at 14, but is only eligible to receive a permit at 15. Use the DPS Scheduler to book an appointment.
Ages 15-17:

DL-14B Form. The DPS office will also have copies.

DL-5 Texas Residency Affidavit Form. The DPS office will have copies.

VOE (Verification of Enrollment) Form is obtained from your high school office. Homeschool students may use this VOE Form.

DE 964 or PT 964 “For Learner’s License Only” certificate

Original birth certificate

Original social security card

$16 to cover DPS administrative and processing fees
