FAQs

Behind The Wheel

  • The classroom and driving instructors at AC Driving School are certified by TDLR, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. All of our instructors hold a valid Texas Driver's License. All have completed training in teaching techniques and have experience teaching in class settings. All have completed continuing education and training on Texas laws and regulations and have completed laboratory training on teaching in the car and have experience teaching in car and on the road.

  • Every vehicle is equipped with a second brake, a camera, GPS tracking, passenger front mirror, fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, and seatbelt cutter/window breaker.

  • We will not drive if there is inclement weather such as severe thunderstorms that would disrupt a normal drive. Please text or call our office for any changes for scheduled drives.

  • Bring your original instructional permit. Students are not permitted to drive without their permit on them — any form of a copy is not acceptable. Closed or open-toe shoes with a back strap are required when going on a drive.

  • Students will use one of our AC Driving School vehicles for all their lessons.

  • Yes! AC Driving School can still provide behind-the-wheel lessons even if your teen completed their classroom requirements elsewhere.

  • Log into the student account at and cancel the drive time as soon as you know you are unable to make it. Canceling within 24 hours will result in a $25 fee.

Road Test

  • What you are required to bring to your road test depends on your age. Please see our Road Tests tab to read the list and access links to the mandatory forms.

  • Yes! If we can, we offer a road test for walk-ins if a road test administrator is available and you have all the paperwork ready. Call, text, or email us as soon as possible to let us know what time you need and we will do our best to help!

  • Yes! You may use one of our vehicles. When registering, add it to your account as you register for a road test. You may also let us know before or on the day of the test and we can add it to your account.

  • Yes! AC Driving School can still provide a road test even if you did an online class other than ours or attended another school. We can also offer behind-the-wheel lessons.

  • There are two options. First, we provide a sealed envelope which you may take to any DPS office. You must have a DPS appointment. Second, we can scan and submit your documents so you can print your license at home and skip a trip back to the DPS. If you decide you would like for AC Driving School to scan and submit your documents, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be a U.S. citizen.

    • You must have a valid Social Security card.

    • You must not have had your driver’s license suspended or revoked.

    • You must not have an active road test transaction already started with DPS.

    • You must not have a Texas Identification Card that has not been turned over to DPS.

    • You must not have taken a road test attempt with DPS.

    • You must not have any medical conditions.

  • We have a high passing rate when it comes to our road test. We have been recognized as having patient, friendly, and clear road test administrators. Clients who take a pre-lesson before have an even higher passing rate.

  • Yes, we will provide an attendance excuse letter claiming that your teen was at our office taking a third party road test. You may take this letter to their school and submit it to the front office.
